LOCAL SPORT
FA Cup Action This Saturday
This weekend sees not one but three of our local football clubs in cup action as the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup comes to Sutton.
The league season hasn’t yet started but this weekend sees The Mikes head to Hanley Town and incredibly sees the most local of derbies with Sutton Town FC taking on Romulus FC - with both teams sharing the same ground this should be a cracker!
Both matches kick off at 3pm on Saturday and the derby match between Sutton Town and Romulus takes place at The Dominos Arena on Coles Lane with tickets available at £10, concessions at £7 and U18s at just £3.
So why not go along, see some cracking sport and support your local clubs.
SUTTON SPOTLIGHT
Turknazz - Beeches Walk
Every Wednesday I play mixed netball at Sutton Girls School on the outside courts, and each week a glorious smell wafts over from the chimneys of Beeches Walk.
In particular, the smell of grilled Turkish meat from Turknazz almost has me walking off the court mid-game and ready to snaffle their grub.
Well last week I managed to snag a table on Thursday evening prior to an action packed evening of darts (at Bar28) and pool (at Mr Cues) in the town centre.
The four of us that dined there were really impressed with our mixed kebab mains that we ordered and although it’s not the cheapest place to eat out in Sutton (£24 for this dish), the food and service were incredibly high quality.
Having previously visited the Moseley branch (there are 3 in total), it was great to finally try the Sutton restaurant.
Being the heathens we are, we all opted for the mixed kebab - which consisted of a minced lamb kebab, cubed lamb kebab and a chicken kebab. Served with fresh salad and bulgar wheat, and followed complimentary bread and dips - believe me, the food did not disappoint.
Don’t make the same error that myself and a friend did and mistake the very thin flatbread for paper (see pic above) - it’s entirely edible and totally delicious.
I’ll be back very soon to sample the rest of the menu.
Family Fun
Inflatable Fun For The Kids
We are just two weeks in to the school holidays and the kids are already screaming ‘I’m Boooooooored!’
If that sounds familiar then why not take them down to Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club this weekend to bounce away that excess energy at their Inflatable Family Fun Day.
Sessions for children aged 2-12 start at 10am and 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday and last for 3 hours. It’s £9 per child for unlimited use of the inflatables (bungee and total wipeout charged extra).
Pay at the gate and parking is available. More details here.
