Good morning Royal Sutton Coldfield,
Welcome back to the only Sutton Coldfield newsletter that visits pubs on trading estates just for you (more on that in Sutton Spotlight).
As we head in to one of the busiest road traffic weekends of the year, we are now ready to start slowing down and enjoying the festivities over the next week - I hope you are too.
We are about to take our first break (for two weeks) since the newsletter started in July, but not before we bring you news of a range of festive (and non-festive) treats that Sutton Coldfield has in store for you this side of Christmas.
We have also compiled a list of some of the carol services going on this week as a separate section to the usual ‘What’s On’ so make sure you check that out if it’s your sort of thing.
Let’s take a look at what’s going on this week…

SUTTON SPOTLIGHT
Local Brewery Delights On Your Doorstep
Last week I had the pleasure of attending a whisky tasting night at Leviathan. They aren’t know for their Whisky’s. Instead, the Reddicap Trading estate micro-pub is known for it’s small batch craft beer and impressive range of taps. Both were great.
I’ve been wanting to visit for ages, and finally did - managing to taste some of their great beers and the whisky from the tasting night (it’s a tough job I know). I highly recommend their Elysium pale ale.
Once you find your way in (trust in Google Maps), you’ll find a friendly welcome, a good mixed crowd and some great drinks to choose from.
A special shout out to the guys running the show (sorry I didn’t catch their names) as they managed to squeeze in our group of 6 even though they’d originally sold out.
I’ll be back very soon.
NEW OPENING
Mediterranean Dining Coming To Mere Green In 2025
Mere Green already has a pretty good local dining scene but the news this week of Mediterranean inspired Willow gearing up for a February opening have us positively shaking with the excitement.
With this being the third Willow restaurant to open, Mere Green looks in for a treat if their other menus are anything to go by and with a focus on supporting local musicians and artists and a decor described as open, airy, and stylishly understated, it looks set to be a hit with locals and those travelling from further afield.
Bookings are set to go live soon for the Mulberry Walk restaurant that is taking residence where the old Prezzo used to sit.

LOCAL NEWS
Last Chance To Visit The Christmas Market
With better weather over this this last week than the one before, the Christmas market has been flourishing, and although all good things must come to an end, there is still time to grab some last minute tasty treats or unique gifts.
Dark Foundry No.8 is well worth checking out as a newcomer this week with a collection of candles, wax melts and gift bags that could be an ideal last minute gift purchase.
Sunday is the last day, so if you haven’t visited yet and want to see what all the fuss is about, I expect the atmosphere will be great at the weekend.
