Good morning Royal Sutton Coldfield,

With such a turbulent week in many local areas Iā€™m happy to be here to spread the word about all the positive things going on in Sutton Coldfield.

In a bid to make this email even more positive - make sure you read right through to the end for news of how you can help raise money for charity - simply by helping us to spread more positivity to more people - and without leaving the house.

We now have over 2100 subscribers - which is incredible in just 5 weeks - so thank you so much for helping us grow.

Yet again, there is so much going on locally that Iā€™ve struggled to fit it all in to this email - so watch this space as we may be moving to two emails per week very soon.

By the way, if you have a business youā€™d like to promote then hit reply to this email and Iā€™ll give you the deets - or visit this link here to find out more.

Letā€™s see whatā€™s happening in Sutton this weekā€¦

JUST OUT OF SUTTON
Yoga & Wellness For All

Sometimes you stumble across something that just changes your life. Sometimes itā€™s a big thing, sometimes small - this is something that has now become a part of my weekly routine and I wonder how I lived without itā€¦

The Art of Wellness is at Blackbrook Barns off London Road in Weeford - just a short hop from Sutton.

You approach The Art Of Wellness through a lovely little courtyard which is home to a cafe and other independent businesses with the studio being nestled into the far corner next to the brook that runs right outside the back door (it has a patio perfect for practicing tree pose).

The studio itself is simple yet beautifully decorated giving it a relaxing vibe especially when the door is open and you can hear the sound of the babbling brook.

I sat down with the friendly and knowledgeable Llewella - the founder of The Art of Wellness - as she told me how she began her own journey with yoga 11 years ago when she trained in Florida at the well-known Heartwood Yoga Institute.

As well as being a master in the art of yoga she has also been a massage therapist for over 15 years.

She doesnā€™t just offer yoga classes, she has art workshops, teen confidence building workshops and grief relief amongst other mindfulness activities which compliment her yoga sessions.

Her intention, as in the name of her business, is to help you look after your all-round wellness.

Iā€™ve tried a few different yoga classes locally and this is by far my favourite. The yoga for beginners class is a great introduction and now after quite a few sessions Iā€™m moving on to yoga flow.

Hereā€™s some of the upcoming workshops including some free ones for the kids:

āœØSunday 11th August 1am-1pm

TEENAGE SKINCARE WORKSHOP - Ā£15

āœØMonday 12th August 11am-12pm

FAMILY YOGA - Parents Ā£6 - Kids are FREE

āœØThursday 15th 10:30am-11:30am

KIDS YOGA - Ages 6-11 - FREE

Booking online here or call/text Llewella on 07701 017361 for more details

SUTTON SPOTLIGHT
From Ironmongers To ā€˜Properā€™ Bakery

Baked in Brick in the iconic Custard Factory in Digbeth has always been a favourite of mine so when they opened their Bakehouse on Holland Road in Sutton Coldfield in 2022 I was over the moon.

The cafe is set in an old ironmongersā€™ shop over 3 floors and not only offers a selection of baked goods from their Erdington based bakery but also some delicious brunch and lunch options.

The owner Lee, who hails from Wylde Green himself and now has 5 locations - including a smaller Bakehouse in Wylde Green - is set to open his 6th store in the Jewellery Quarter.

Weā€™ve visited the Holland Road Bakehouse many times and the staff are always friendly and the service always excellent. My kids particularly love the wide range of cakes and pastries on offer and the coffee is amazing (essential for any parent).

Recently we booked a table to sample their brunch menu which is a little bit different to your standard smashed avocado on toast. We loved the pulled harrisa lamb (as shown in the picture above) and the classic bacon butty was a hit with the kids.

Whether its just coffee and a cake, brunch or lunch - The Bakehouse doesnā€™t disappoint.

FOOD & FUN
Digbeth Dining Club Comes To Sutton

Do you remember Digbeth Dining Club? I almost had a breakdown when they closed their doors! Well, they are back on the road in 2024 and this weekend they come to Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club in Walmley - and itā€™s BIG!

Unlike last yearā€™s torrential weather which saw the crowds battle the elements, this weekend looks set to be a touch kinder and with over 20 street food vendors to choose from, DJs and family entertainment - it looks set to be a great event.

Some of my faves include Beef on the Block, Disco Fries, Only Jerkinā€™, Bournville Waffle Co and Urban Cheescake. But of course, Iā€™ll find an excuse to try a new stall or two Iā€™m sure.

Itā€™s dog friendly so you can take the whole family including your furry friends and it kicks off at 12pm.

Tickets are Ā£3 for adults, Ā£1.50 for 5-18 year olds and under 5ā€™s are free (booking fees apply but tickets will cost more on the door).

FOR THE KIDS
This Is The Coolest Collection Of Cars Anywhere

Forget the kids, Iā€™m all in on this one myself when some of the most famous cars from my own childhood come to Sutton Coldfield Town Centre this Saturday courtesy of the BID - and the list is impressive.

Knightrider (my all time fave), The Ghostbusters Ecto-1, The 1989 Batmobile, Scooby Dooā€™s Mystery Machine and more all descend on the town centre for Kids Carfest - donā€™t worry, I wonā€™t judge you if you leave the kids at home.

If you do decide to bring them along thereā€™s free face paining and a free balloon artist, along with live music and a bubble-ologist.

I canā€™t wait for this one.

When: Saturday 10am - 4pm

Where: Sutton Coldfield Town Centre

Today Iā€™m really pleased to announce that our second tier is live - and itā€™s something that allows us to give back to the community.
