Good morning Royal Sutton Coldfield,
Welcome back to the only Sutton Coldfield newsletter thatâs getting a sun tan in April.
Yes, youâd forgive yourself for thinking you are in a Mediterranean town such has been the lovely weather this week and it looks set to continue in to the weekend - a sure sign the kids are back at school!
Thereâs plenty going on across Sutton Coldfield this week (both indoors and outdoors) with lots of art and culture to bring you up to speed on.
I also bring you my verdict on the new Chuck & Cluck in Sutton Park, so be sure to check that out in the Sutton Spotlight as well as some exciting events to look ahead to.
Letâs get goingâŠ

SUTTON SPOTLIGHT
Sip, Chuck & Cluck In Sutton Park
If youâre like me, with this glorious weather youâll be enjoying more time outdoors, and last Friday we headed out for a good family walk in Sutton Park.
We decided to make it more of an event by adding one of my favourite pit stops in en-route - The Bracebridge. Instead of a slap up meal indoors though, we chose to sit on the terrace and order from Sip & Slice, Cofton Pizza and the new Chuck & Cluck.

It was a lovely day and what better way to complement the view over Bracebridge Pool than to sit and enjoy a hot drink and some downright scrumptious food.
Warning: The pizzas are pretty big as are the portions from Chuck & Cluck. My kids ended up carrying pizza back through the park for snacks later in the day, and although I scoffed down my perfectly cooked chicken, I could have opted for a smaller portion (or shared) - but I decided it was too good for that.
Weâve highlighted Sip & Slice and The Bracebridge before in Sutton Insider, but the addition of Chuck & Cluck makes this an even better spot for a mid-walk bite to eat (or end of walk depending on where you are ending up).
Apologies for the poor pic above, but we had to take it from our reel we shared on Instagram as we were too impatient to dive in to the food. You can check that reel out here to get the full vibe.
Chuck & Cluck is open Wednesday to Saturday 12-9PM and Sunday 12-5pm and times vary for Sip & Slice. All menus and timings can be found on The Bracebridge website here.

Sutton Coldfield Station Blooms With Art Project

Sutton Coldfield railway station has had a makeover, thanks to a dedicated group of local volunteers and artists. An eye-catching display of artwork by local artists now greets passengers, featuring woodland creatures, a colourful map of local attractions, and restored green spaces â all made possible by a ÂŁ26,600 grant from West Midlands Railwayâs "Your Community, Your Fund" scheme.
The project, led by the Spaghetti Line station adopters, includes stunning murals by local creatives Wingy, Whimsical Trading Post, Brumhaus and Tom Woolley. âWe hope the art and green spaces will brighten visitors' days,â said adopter lead Dawn Whitfield, who welcomed new volunteer Steve to the team thanks to the projectâs momentum.
Green-fingered volunteers also focused on the green space with âRubyâs Gardenâ â a peaceful spot by the entrance named after a former station masterâs daughter-in-law, now maintained by Folklore CafĂ©.
The terrace and path to Platform 2 have also been cleared. Community groups, including Friends of Wylde Green Station and Sutton Coldfield Litter Action Group, pitched in with a clean-up day too.
âThis transformation is fantastic,â added WMRâs Cara Higgs. âItâs a real win for passengers and the community.â
A huge thank you to all involved from us here at Sutton Insider. Have you seen it yet?

Wine Tasting Event & Jazz Event At Town Hall
Sutton Coldfield Town Hall is really delivering a more diverse lineup of events this year with Sunday Jazz evenings in their impressive Crush the latest successful addition.
The first Jazz event was held on April 13th, and it returns this Sunday (May 4th) with âWhere Soul Meets Jazzâ and Spotlight on 'Beebeâ featuring Matt Ratcliffe & Guests.
The lineup looks incredible and those attending will be spoiled with a performance from Chris âBeebeâ Aldridge who is regarded as one of the UKâs finest saxophonists. He has toured with Gary Barlow, Ben E King, Tony Christie and has appeared with jazz icons such as Pee Wee Ellis, Bud Shank, Gerard Presencer, John Dankworth and Victor Mendoza.

If Jazz isnât your thing then why not consider the next installment of their wine tasting evening. I mentioned a couple of weekâs ago that I attended the first event, and this one looks set to be even better, with a focus on South American wines and food pairing.
If you missed my write up on it you can expect Sutton Coldfield born and bred wine expert Geoff Bolton to expertly walk you through an array of wines while Cornerstone Kitchen pair it with amazing food and Chef Lee will talk you through the choices and why each course pairs well with the wine.
It really was a great event last time and I have my tickets already for the next one.
The next event takes place on Thursday June 5th. Will I see you there?

Enjoy the weather this bank holiday weekend and see you next week.
