Good morning Royal Sutton Coldfield,
Welcome back to the only Sutton newsletter that ends on itās first birthdayā¦
Thatās right. Iām afraid I have sad news this week in that we have decided to call time on the newsletter.
Itās been a whole year since we started the newsletter and in that time weāve had so many people tell us how much they love it, weāve visited so many new businesses and tried to promote them and weāve met some fantastic new friends along the way.
But sadly, the newsletter is costing more than it is generating and we have other ventures that we need to put our time in to.
So this will be the final Sutton Insider newsletter. The Instagram account will continue as normal so if you are not yet following us there, you can keep up with local news and events on Instagram here.
I also have something else to share with you at the bottom of this email so be sure to check that out too.
I want to thank you, the reader, for continuing to support us, for reading my ramblings and for supporting local businesses which I am sure you will continue to do.
Letās get in to it for one final timeā¦
SUTTON SPOTLIGHT
Discover Your Creative Side at The Pottery Shed
Nestled in the beautiful Heart of the Country Village, not far from the entrance, youāll find this charming little cafĆ©.
Although it has only been open for two weeks, itās already attracting lots of interestāunsurprisingly, given its gorgeous setting.
The Pottery Shed offers a range of ceramics to paint, from simple mugs to fairy doors. No prior experience is needed, and the owner, Tamara, is incredibly helpful and friendly. She provides inspiration and tips that make the whole experience calm and relaxing.

You can book a morning or afternoon session from Tuesday to Sunday. Each session lasts two hours and costs Ā£6, which covers paints, glazes, and the firing service. You then simply select the item youād like to paint, with prices ranging from Ā£10 to Ā£40. I particularly liked that they offer stamps, so you can print designs onto your ceramics if youāre not confident painting intricate details.
The main aim of the cafĆ© is to provide a space where you can be creative and connect with others in a relaxed environment. They run a āPaint and Natterā session on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm ā perfect if you canāt persuade anyone to join you and a great opportunity to meet like-minded people.
The venue is also available to hire for occasions such as birthday parties, baby showers, hen dos, and team-building events. You can book sessions to create baby hand and footprints too, which make lovely keepsakes or gifts.
They serve great coffee alongside more unusual drinks like a pink latte, chilli hot chocolate, and even our very own Matcha Flow (as a drink or a full pouch to takeaway.
Plenty of workshops are coming up where you can learn different techniques. The next is a unique two-part workshop on Wednesday 25th June and Wednesday 2nd July.
In the first session, youāll paint your own vase using the stunning bubble glaze technique (or choose your own design). In the second, youāll return to fill your finished vase with a seasonal bouquet, guided by a professional florist from Perfect Day Flowers. Spaces are limited, so book soon to avoid disappointment.
Visit The Pottery Shedās Instagram account or their Facebook page to book or find out more information.

And so, this is the final time I will be writing the outro to the Sutton Insider newsletter that has taken up a large part of my life for the last 12 months - and itās something Iāll hold on to for a long time no doubt.
One final plug from me and please only do it if you are interested - but myself and Laura run a travel blog where we document our big (worldwide) and little (UK based) travel adventures. If youād be interested in following along with that then you can subscribe to that newsletter over on Big Little Travels here or just browse some of our favourite travel spots in the UK and abroad.
To give you a flavour of what to expect there - youāll have things like our fave restaurants in Birmingham that we updated with our trip to Orelle this week (little travels) and our upcoming month long trip to Indonesia (very big travels) to stay up to date on.
Thank you so much once again for reading each week and please continue to support those local independent businesses.
Sincerely,
