Warm Up With This Coal Fired Grub

And The Christmas Market Looks Set To Get Even Better!

Good morning Royal Sutton Coldfield,

Welcome back to the only Sutton Coldfield newsletter that shines brighter than Rudolph’s nose.

After the country was battered by Storm Darragh last weekend and our Royal Town took a particular beating I am glad to say that this weekend things look a little calmer on the weather front. So there’s no excuse to stay wrapped up indoors when there’s so much going on in and around the town.

This week we have new additions to the town centre Christmas Market and a really exciting new independent restaurant opening to talk about - plus an extensive what’s on list so there should be something for everyone.

Let’s get in to it…

NEW OPENING
A New Independent Pub & Food Cooked Over Coals

The local food and drink scene in Sutton spoils us - I genuinely believe that - and although it was a shock when Brewhouse closed, what looks set to replace it is really exciting…

Especially, if like me, you love the prospect of aged local produce cooked over coals and then swishing it down with fine wine.

That’s exactly the vibe at Ash, that opens on 18th December and it has mouth watering menus that include a Sunday menu, light bites, the mains and also a kids menu.

I spoke with Andy Dixon of Ash who had this to say on the opening:

“The ASH team are working away ready for the opening on the 18th December, lots of training, role plays, loving the sampling and the last big push on the refurb.  We're really looking forward to welcoming the people of Sutton through the doors of ASH”.

I’m sure it will be worth the wait and I'll be booking in real soon and will be back here with a full review.

LOCAL NEWS
Week Three Of Sutton Coldfield Christmas Market

We are now in to week three of the Christmas Market and the weather is looking much kinder this weekend than last - so hopefully we see it in full swing this week with traders not having to retreat.

There are some new additions this week with even more stalls opening up at the weekend including Brummie Honey, The Happy Hippy Creations, Bonsai Trees, Encods tile art, Solo Pizza and more (sorry there’s too much to list - full list here).

There’s no better way to support local independent businesses and get yourself in the festive spirit than heading down to the market. It’s open until 6pm Tues-Thurs, 8pm Fri-Sat and 5pm Sunday.

Don’t forget you can take advantage of the free parking at council run sites too.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT
How Does Sutton Shape Your Christmas Traditions?

Christmas means something different to everyone, and many families and friends have their own quirky traditions.

Ours are pretty standard, but one thing that has become a tradition for us is a Christmas Eve walk in Sutton Park followed by incredible homemade pizza at Your Flamingo with friends and the kids as we await the big day.

Are you one of the daredevils who go for a dip on Christmas morning at Blackroot? Do you plan to hibernate through the entire festive period? Or something else entirely?

I’d love to know and maybe feature some of the more interesting stories next week - so hit reply and let me know your quirky Christmas traditions or adventures.
